World Peace and National Security Part 3

by Desislava Manova

Become a giver

The raising of consciousness is only the first step. The next one is action. Consciousness shall lead to action to achieve the goal by non-violent, peaceful means, if both the minds and hearts of people resonate in harmony. There are some steps to understand what consciousness is and how it works.Like a human heart which is the center of love is 5,000 times stronger than human brain. Sometimes the power of love is very important to us,but we must understand that.
The Problems of World Peace and National security
One of the main problems of world peace and national security are nuclear weapons and ecological self-destruction.
*The Effects of Nuclear Weapons.
Nuclear explosions produce both immediate and delayed destructive effects. Blast, thermal radiation, and prompt ionizing radiation cause significant destruction within seconds or minutes of a nuclear detonation. The delayed effects, such as radioactive fallout and other environmental effects, inflict damage over an extended period ranging from hours to years. Some of effects are: Thermal Effects, Long-term effects, Blast effects, Radiation effects.
With sustained global effort the community achieved numerous agreements to reduce nuclear arsenals, including the decision to remove them from certain regions and areas, to restrict their distribution and to eliminate the nuclear attempts.Regardless of the success of these agreements, nuclear weapons and their distribution remains a major threat for peace and a great challenge for the international community.
Bloody wars, mushroom clouds, collapsed skyscrapers, vulnerable populations - these are just a part of the human conditions in today's world of violence. But there is a reason for hope. Millions of people and organizations strive and work for peace. Some of them are the Global policy networks and services, which emerged as a transnational problem Solvers. International institutions to provide peace and security for all people are gaining capacity and effectiveness as well.
Nuclear peace is a theory of International Relations which argues that under some circumstances nuclear weapons can induce stability and decrease the chances of crisis escalation. Proponents of the nuclear peace argue that controlled nuclear proliferation may be beneficial for inducing stability. Critics of the nuclear peace argue that nuclear proliferation not only increases the chance of inter-state nuclear conflict, but also increases the chances of nuclear material falling into the hands of non-state groups who are free from the threat of nuclear retaliation.
Preventing the spread of Nuclear Weapons have began in the early 1960s, when many military experts and political leaders feared that the proliferation of nuclear weapons was bound to continue, and that within a decade or two a dozen additional countries were likely to cross the nuclear threshold. In an attempt to forestall such a development, the United States and the Soviet Union took the lead in negotiating an international agreement that would prohibit the further spread of nuclear weapons without banning the utilization of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Nuclear weapons are common element of many national security challenges for the next administrations. Nuclear proliferation and preventing the spread of nuclear weapons, may make it possible to maintain the taboo against nuclear use. As the number of nuclear powers increases, so does the potential for transfer to non-state actors as well as the danger of use in a regional crisis. The likely growth in the use of nuclear energy also carries the risk of proliferating fuel cycles and nuclear weapons programs.
Nuclear energy and Nonproliferation. Given the likely expansion of the global use of nuclear energy, driven by mounting concern over global warming, we should urgently address the challenge of how to increase global reliance on nuclear energy without increasing the risks of nuclear proliferation and without creating an unmanageable supply of nuclear waste that is a major concern for proliferation. The nuclear challenges are substantively daunting and politically sensitive.
Organizations of World Peace and National security.

Since the founding of the Global Union, leading scientists from many nations have stepped forward to serve as the national presidents of this new organization and to help implement peace initiatives in their countries. These scientists in many cases hold key positions in the governmental authorities. The Global Union is also inviting top scientists around the world to join national GUSP Advisory Boards in each country in order to build a thriving global organization with the clout to get things done. The scientific community has issued vivid warnings about the catastrophic effects of thermonuclear war and has called for the abolition of nuclear weapons. But such approaches to peace have not achieved their ultimate goal, primarily because scientists have not possessed an effective technology of peace.

The Global Union invites scientists in every country to contribute their ideas, initiatives, and expertise in order to promote national and international Peace. The Global Union especially supports scientifically field-tested approaches to peace that can be easily implemented to create the effect of peace immediately .

*The mission of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace is:
* To stop the growing threat of nuclear proliferation and nuclear war
* To resist the global rise of other weapons of mass destruction
* To promote the adoption of safe, scientifically proven technologies for national security and global peace

One of the key programs advocated by the Global Union of Scientists for Peace is a new, peace-based technology of defense known as the Invincible Defense Technology that has been evaluated by more than 50 scientific studies and confirmed to effectively prevent violence, terrorism, and war. Based on the most advanced understanding of human consciousness and the latest developments in physics, physiology, and neuroscience, this new approach can be immediately implemented to stop open warfare, resolve conflicts peacefully, and defuse the acute political, ethnic, and religious tensions that fuel terrorism and violence.

NATO and international security

One of the biggest organizations for national security and peace is North Atlantic Treaty Organisation - NATO.It is an intergovernmental military-political organization in which member states "retain" full sovereignty and independence. It was created on April 4, 1949 in Washington, United States, with the signing of 12 founding countries of the North Atlantic Treaty.
Some of its objectives are to ensure freedom and security to all the members by political and military means in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter. A very important task of NATO, since its creation, is to work towards establishing a just and lasting order in Europe based on shared values of democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law. The politics are based on three complementary elements - dialogue, cooperation and support of the potential for collective defense. There are three dimensions of NATO -
the first and second dimensions are the discussion and coordination of political and military security between member countries and partner countries. The third dimension is the participation in solving crisis situations affecting the population/natural disasters, fires, etc.Cooperation in research and environmental protection.

The Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Program supports practical cooperation between scientists from NATO member states and Partner and Mediterranean Dialogue countries on security-related issues in the fields of civil science, environment and technology. The Science for Peace and Security Program offers grants to scientists in NATO, Partner and Mediterranean Dialogue countries to collaborate on priority research topics, which include NATO priorities and additional Partner country priorities. Grants are also offered to assist the academic community in Partner countries to set up computer networking infrastructure and to optimize their use of electronic communication.

Through Peace and Security Initiative (PSI), advocacy organizations, grassroots groups, think tanks, academics, and funders working together to promote safer and peaceful techniques. PSI promotes joint strategic planning to strengthen the financial position of this community to grow its membership, hone their messages and to coordinate their campaigns, thus enhancing its collective impacts.

There are other views and ideas about what is called "Science of Peace"< that exclude NATO as a peacemaker.

However, all views deserve complete respect and have equal "right" of existence.
