Love and Ego Rule Mankind

In current times, this desire has grown so big that society has lost control of it, and Kabbalah states that the ego will continue growing until people become such monsters that they won’t be able to stand themselves.




What can be done to change this world?

Can it be done without being forced?

Hear me, please...

Very simply. We need to want to unite. And this does not mean we need to hold our hands or embrace. Nothing will change if a few egoists cooperate. We need to unite our hearts. There's no other way, and for this we need to start transforming our egoism before additional blows reach us. And, how can we do that? How can we get rid of the Ego?
By observing the main law of the Universe - the law of Love. Live in Love and by Love. This is precisely what ancient wisdom - Master P. Dunov and Kabbalah teach.

Kabbalah also teaches that the recognition of a person’s selfish nature must necessarily be followed by action. People have to do everything they can to implement the solution to the crisis – to improve human relationships and attitudes toward fellow humans. This means changing each one’s attitude from “seeking to be number one” to “humanity is all one family.”

Kabbalah states that if people fail to implement this change in attitude, then the inner distance between people will disclose itself more and more in negative ways. In other words, it would mean a crisis far greater than the current financial ordeal. Moreover, the crises will continue to grow, one after another, until people recognize the reason for their condition – selfish human nature – and work to correct it.

Then what is Love and how can it change the world?

Love is when you don't pay any attention to yourself, but you take the desires of another person and try to fulfill them in exactly the way they would like. In other words, you turn yourself into a vessel of fulfillment for the other person. This is real love, and it exists only in the spiritual world. And there is no difference if it is a man or a woman - what's important are the desires, the soul.

In contrast, when we talk about love in this world, we are really talking about attraction and pleasure that are brought about by hormones. If we were to disconnect a person from his hormonal system, he wouldn't be able to feel "love." This again shows that what we usually think of as love is just an egoistic desire to enjoy. Sometimes this desire can even be cruel, desiring to receive fulfillment at the expense of another person. Hence, the love we read about in fairy tales is really an illusion, and does not exist in reality. It's because all of our desires are based only on the desire to fulfill ourselves. Even when we give something to others, we do so only because it gives us pleasure. Our action of giving is meaningless because what really matters to us while performing that action is what we feel.

What does the Story of Adam and Eve Mean in Our Times?

Our ego is the snake that prevents us from being able to love someone else. The meaning behind the story of Adam, Eve and the snake is actually very simple. The snake represents the ego that became revealed between Adam and Eve, the man and the woman. And that's really all there is to the story.
For example, suppose that a happy, young couple falls in love. They hug, kiss and laugh together, go to the movies and the beach. Then they get married and begin living together, and everything is wonderful. They're in the Garden of Eden. And suddenly - the snake (the ego) arrives. They suddenly begin arguing. Then they begin taking advantage of each other and making private calculations, such as "How can I get him/her to be the way I want them to be?" This happens to us because the snake (the ego that's inside us) prevents us from being able to love someone else, and makes sure that our love is egoistic from the start. Under these circumstances, the closest we can come to love is to surrender our egos in day to day life as much as we can. However, this still doesn't solve the problem at the root, and does not enable us to experience real, unconditional love.
This is where Ancient knowledge offers another solution: to correct our soul at the root, or to correct the snake that separates us from our partners. To do this, both partners must realize that there is a goal to their lives that's above this world. Then they will also realize that they can only attain it by having a partner in life, someone who will go through the spiritual path together with them. This is the meaning of the verse, "Man, woman, and the Divine Presence between them." It means that in order for us to attain the Divine presence, spirituality, we must connect with each other correctly.
Then, instead of taking advantage of each other, Adam and Eve will complete each other. And the snake, instead of driving them apart, will become the driving force that pushes them to reveal the Upper Force - the Divine Presence, or the Creator.
The phrase "man and woman coming together" brings up images for all of us that have absolutely nothing to do with what it really signifies. To us, we see corporeal men and women relating to each other as their bodies, minds and emotions direct them.

The coming together of man and woman is not about Adam and Eve or even about men and women. It is about a part of humanity that is masculine and a part that is feminine. The reason for their coming together is to complete one another and bring about the general correction of mankind. When the men study this wisdom and draw the Light, the women provide them with the need, the desire, the fuel to fire their energy for this correction. Each has their part, neither is more important than the other, and neither can do without the other.

To vanquish the ego that assumes numerous forms is an arduous task for any seeker, yet one would have to banish it as that remains the purpose of his quest.

A man disturbed by his own shadow, in order to get rid of it, dug a pit and sought to bury it. He tried in vain by throwing mud into the pit, however the shadow was quick to make its appearance on the pilling up mud. At the completion of the job, he was thrown into utter disappointment to see the shadow on top of the pit.

The best course to get rid of it totally is to surrender to God without reserve, which causes its ultimate destruction....

The man then resorted to run away from the shadow. He did so by running away from the sun only to find his shadow, in full form running ahead of Him. In utter frustration, the man started running towards the sun. He was happy to have out-paced the shadow, however he had still not done away with it totally, as it was following him. The dejected man then lay down on the ground. He then turned to his left and right to find his shadow. To his relief the shadow had disappeared.

Swami Sivananda says that one's ego, or the sense of 'I am ness' with regards to one's body and mind, is in truth a mere shadow and not one's true self. It takes on innumerable forms throwing one into delusion. One cannot out do it by fleeing from it. However with one's attention turned to God, one can actually out-pace it. The best course to get rid of it totally is to surrender to God without reserve, which causes its ultimate destruction. The individual then gets established in eternal peace.
